The Face on Mars is an excellent case for demonstrating how the public can be fooled using nothing more than a few edited images. As intended, the hype surrounding the Face on Mars has died down because most ordinary people accepted the so-called new, higher-resolution images taken 22 years after the sensational Viking images were first discovered and analyzed, without looking further into the matter and uncovering the details and inconsistencies that will eventually prove that the new images were fake.

In 1976, when the American Viking space probes reached Mars, nobody could have anticipated what kind of photographic material the probes would transmit back to Earth. After the spacecraft was placed into its intended orbit around Mars, it began taking pictures of the Martian surface. Each image was divided into 321,024 pixels and transmitted to Earth. On Earth, the data was stored on countless computer tapes at the National Space Science Data Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Due to the extensive analysis required, no more than 60,000 of the 300,000 photographs had been reassembled by 1980.

In the same year, Vincent Di Pietro examined a number of already developed photographs of the Martian surface. After looking through countless images, he suddenly came across an image designated “35A72.” This image, taken on July 31, 1976, bore the subheading “head.” When he took a closer look at the image, he was startled to see what he later described as “…the grand effigy of a manlike visage towards the landscape of Mars.”

The Face on Mars is approximately one mile long and is located in the Cydonia region, which is notable for more than just the Face. The so-called Mars pyramids, which are still partially preserved, are located a few miles to the west of the Face.

When scientist Gregory Molenaar saw the photograph of the Face on Mars, he offered his assistance to Di Pietro. The resolution and overall quality of the images were significantly improved through their specially developed analytical method, called the “Starburst Pixel Interleaving Technique” (SPIT).

Later, it was proven that the shadowed side of the Face was identical to the illuminated side, and that there were also pupils in the eyes and a teardrop beneath one of the eyes. This alone would be evidence enough to show that the Face was not formed by natural processes. Needless to say, there is much more evidence to come.

In order to verify that the Face had to be an artificial structure, the two scientists searched through more photographs and finally found the image “70A13” (see above). This image was taken 35 days later and under completely different conditions than the first one. At that time, the space probe was traveling in a lower orbit, and the position of the Sun was also different. Consequently, the statement that classifies the Face as a coincidental appearance caused by a particular incidence of light is rendered baseless by the fact that the photograph was taken from a lower orbit and different lighting conditions.

This second photograph probably had a much better resolution than the first one, allowing more details to be detected. Now the eye holes on the shadowed side, as well as the hairline in the pageboy style and the entire second half of the Face, were visible.

However, the most interesting discoveries in the new images were the pyramids, which are located only 9 miles from the Face. The pyramids are completely symmetrical, with the sideline of one of the pyramids aligned with the axis of Mars. The same phenomenon is known from the pyramids on Earth, which are aligned with celestial bodies or the like.

It is no coincidence that pyramids are found on the ocean floor of the Bermuda Triangle, as well as in a lake in the United States and that they are generally scattered throughout the world. Combining the knowledge handed down by ancient cultures with discoveries made worldwide, one arrives at the conclusion that pyramidal constructions have something special about them – (in my opinion) they are mainly an indication of intelligent life on various planets, since this kind of structure cannot be found in nature.
